Bu çalışma, Sivas âşıklık geleneği içerisinde önemli bir yere sahip olan Âşık Furkanî'nin hayatını ve eserlerini derinlemesine incelemektedir. Âşık Furkanî, halk şiiri içinde yaşayan ve günümüzde eski canlılığını yitirmiş olsa da hala sürdürülen aşıklık geleneğinin önemli temsilcilerinden biridir. Kitap, onun hayatına dair detaylı bilgiler sunarken, aynı zamanda âşıklık kültürü ve Sivas yöresine özgü halk şiirine katkılarını ele almaktadır.
Çalışma, öncelikle Aşık Furkanî’nin kişisel hayatını ve sanatını nasıl şekillendirdiğini ele almaktadır. Furkanî, çocukluk yıllarından itibaren halk şiirine ve Sivas’taki aşık geleneğine ilgi duymuş, bu geleneği genç yaşta öğrenmiş ve geliştirmiştir. Sivas’ta doğan ve annesinin şiir kabiliyetiyle yetişen Furkanî, bu coğrafyanın zengin kültürel birikimi içinde âşıklık geleneğini sürdürmüş, ustalığa ulaşmış bir âşıktır.
Kitapta Furkanî’nin şiirlerinin detaylı bir analizi yapılmakta ve onun üslubunun gerek büyük gelenek içinde gerekse Sivas âşık geleneği içinde nasıl konumlandığına dair bilgiler verilmektedir. Şiirlerinde geleneksel halk şiirinin formlarını ustalıkla kullanan Furkanî, aynı zamanda güncel olaylara ve duygulara yer vererek hem eski hem yeni nesillere hitap etmeyi başarmıştır.
Furkanî’nin şiirlerinde ilahî aşk, ölüm, vatan gibi temalar öne çıkarken, dili sade ve akıcıdır. Şiirlerinde halkın duygularını ve günlük hayatını ustalıkla işleyen Furkanî, hem kendi yaşamını hem de çevresindeki insanları yansıtmaktadır. Kitap, Furkanî’nin şiirlerini inceleyerek onun Türk halk edebiyatına katkılarını ve geleneksel halk şiirini yaşatma çabalarını gözler önüne sermektedir.
